    About Angel

    Angel Trazo (she/her) is a second generation Filipina American artist and scholar from the Bay Area. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies at Sacramento City Collge. She received her PhD in Cultural Studies from UC Davis and her MA in Asian American Studies from UCLA. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology and Studio Art from Colgate University. Her current research focuses on Asian American social media, popular culture, and youth cultures, specifically the Asian Baby Girl (ABG) subculture.
    Her scholarship has been published in Intersections: Critical Issues in Education, Amerasia Journal, and Alon: Journal of Filipinx American and Diasporic Studies and her comics have been published in ASAP/Journal and Modern Language Studies.
    She is the author and illustrator of the children's book We Are Inspiring: The Stories of 32 Inspirational Asian American Women (2019). She has been commissioned to do visual notes and illustrations for clients including the Center for Asian American Media, PBS, and various colleges across America.
    Previously, Angel served as the Student Manager for Communications for the Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies and the Layout Designer for Alon: Journal for Filipinx American and Diasporic Studies (2021-2023).
