Hello! My name is Angel Trazo and I am a visual artist with 9+ years of experience in digital illustration.
I specialize in character design (especially drawing people of color), children's book illustration, comics + mini-graphic novels, and visual notetaking. I create high-resolution, black and white and full-color illustrations for individuals and organizations.
Design Process: I work in close collaboration with my clients to bring their artistic visions to life. Collaborations begin with a consultation (over email and/or Zoom) regarding your design needs, deadlines, and budget. In regard to budget, I work on a sliding scale (The starting end is for individuals. The sample rates listed beside various projects reflect budgets of larger groups and organizations).
During the consultation stage, please send any textual elements to be included in the design, design descriptions, or reference images that may facilitate my understanding of your design direction. Soon after our conversation, I will send a mock-up (rough sketch in black and white) of my design. From there, we will communicate revisions or potential new directions (which typically occurs over the span of 1 or 2 artistic drafts) until we finish finalizing the piece. Illustrations typically take at least 3-4 weeks to fulfill, so please plan accordingly.
Ready to work together? See the images below for rough estimates of my rates.
Please send any artistic queries to angeltrazo408@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

What is 'visual notetaking'?
In real-time during an event, I combine sketches, hand-written notes, and inspiration from my physical context to create what I call 'visual-notes' or 'notes & doodles.' Onlookers often liken my work to the practice of 'graphic recording' or 'graphic facilitation,' others to comic book illustration. I began this style of note-taking with the project Notes & Doodles' (2016-2017) I created as part of my college art thesis. The style of my practice developed more-or-less organically, as I have always been one to add illustrations or diagrams to my classnotes. I'd also just taken a seminar on figure drawing and happily used my environment to practice sketching the human form. This project continues as a (somewhat) daily practice. Overall, I see 'visual-notetaking' as the best way I know how to keep focused during lectures and conferences, by taking notes I can reference in the future. Read my Amerasia piece on how I use visual notetaking as Asian American art practice here.
